Wolverton Town Band

Wolverton Town Band is based 4 miles north of Central Milton Keynes and welcomes players of all standards.

June is fast approaching so is our trip to Belgium. June 26th and 27th sees us visiting Ploegsteert and playing a concert with our twin band, the Ploegsteert Harmonies Band.

Approximate Timings for our trip

Saturday 26th

 6.00-7.00am   Leave Wolverton Town Hall  by coach to catch the Eurostar.

 11.20  Channel crossing booked using the Eurotunnel

 13.00 ish   arrival  at Ploegsteert. Welcome apéro and lunch of some sort.

 Pétanque (boules) competition!  (Combined bands rehearsal if needed.)

 19.00 Evening meal.

 20.00 Evening concert with both bands.

 22.00-30 Return to hotel (be careful of driver’s hours)

Sunday 27th

08.30 Breakfast at hotel or with hosts.

 09.00 Leave hotel for brief stop at Strand Cemetary or similar.

 10.00 Formal ceremony at Albert’s grave with wreath laying

 11.00 Visit Ploegsteert Wood.

 12.30    Possible lunch at the restaurant opposite the British Memorial or maybe in Ypres.

 14.30-15.00 Visit to war museum which will need to be booked in advance.

 16.00 light meal in Ypres main square.

 17.00 ish leave Ypres.

 18.20 (French time)  Eurotunnel return booked.

18.30 ish  Land back in England.

23.30 ish  arrive back at Wolverton.

Wolverton Town Band is working in partnership with the MK Music Service.  They are forming a partnership to plan some workshops for local musicians to benefit from the free services offered by WTB and the excellent tuition provided by the Music Service.
